Hormones are the most potent chemical messengers in the body, telling us what to do and when. There are over 50 hormones that have been identified. That’s why when your hormones are out of balance, you may be able to feel the effects, whether it be via insomnia, fatigue, weight gain, hair loss, or mood swings.

When your hormones aren’t communicating properly, and your body incorrectly produces too much or too little of any hormone, this is what’s known as a hormonal imbalance.

Many things can cause a hormone imbalance and aging is one of them. Here are the most famous symptoms of just 3 of those 50.

  • Testosterone
  • Oestrogen
  • Progesterone

These guys do way more than sex and reproduction.

If you think you might have a hormonal imbalance, start by talking to your GP, get a referral to an endocrinologist, a medical specialist who is qualified to diagnose disorders with the endocrine system and hormones.

There are some basic steps you can take that will help:

  • Stop drinking alcohol
  • Cut out sugar
  • Increase omega 3 and 6 fatty acids to your daily food
  • Eat more whole foods
  • Drink more water
  • Increase your vitamin D intake
